Teaching Canva To Clients
Teaching is a huge benefit and payoff if you can take someone from point A to point B seamlessly. Most people have no idea that they have a skill that could be profitable. furthermore, you can be great at more than one thing but you only cater to one thing because is familiar. I personally love a good routine but I also love learning new things on the internet. Apps and programs especially.
Using Canva has been extremely beneficial to my workflow. While implementing this into my business allowed me to always have planned marketing available and last-minute brand marketing.
Notably, once I learned the ins and outs of the Canva website and all it has to offer, I made sure to offer my teachings to others within my network.
Here are a few ways to break down teaching Canva to clients:
- You can give 1-hour sessions on how to create the perfect size images per social media platform. This session could cover how to upload their own brand images, and logos, and how the layers work on Canva
- You could teach how to edit photos in Canva. This editing session could cover how to remove backgrounds, how to add shadows, how to resize images, and more.
- You can teach clients the benefits of using Canva Pro for their business.
This is a great way to keep clients if you are attracting businesses. Most business owners wouldn’t want to do all of the work themselves. This is where you offer your services and create packages catering to individuals and larger businesses.
Designing For Brand Events
This particular design skill involves a bit of needing an understanding of what brands want. You would need to communicate a lot throughout the design process from start to finish. Every brand will have its own unique style for how to communicate to its supporters with marketing. At times you will find that some brands want clean and simple marketing. Opposite to that, other brands like their marketing to be very expressive with lots of colors and text.
Your job is ultimately to create branding that truly speaks to the brand. The good news is, there’s no shortage of brands to work with. You can constantly reach out to new and established brands to pitch your work offers. However, designing for brand events requires research. You want to work with brands that are currently in the brand awareness phase.
To clarify, this phase is important because brands are always looking for ways to reach new potential clients/customers. In fact, even if the brand isn’t new, you can still reach out to offer a more updated style of marketing and branding.
Here are a few ways to make money using Canva:
- Design custom flyers for trade events
- Create custom business cards
- Design landing pages for email signups per event
- Plan company brochures
- Design custom merch art to be sold at events
There are so many different ways to lend your Canva expertise to companies. I’ve come to learn that oftentimes, brands don’t even know they’re missing a personal touch with their marketing plans. Approach brands with confidence and build not only for them but for your own portfolio as well.
Creating Instagram Templates
Instagram templates can be fun to design. There are so many different types of templates that could be made for personal and business use. If you want to make money using Canva designing Instagram Templates, here are a few ways you could do just that.
- Design aesthetic Instagram templates with color palettes that are trending or seasonal.
- Create Instagram templates for Estheticians or Skincare enthusiasts.
- Curate a cool Instagram template for influencers needing a more branded theme for each post.
- Design Instagram templates for business coaches.
Now, you’re probably wondering how to scale this to make it profitable. For starters, you can create Instagram templates by theme, and by niche. Once you have a great aesthetic, you can start creating bundles to sell more at once with a saving in the bundle deals. The beauty of making Instagram templates is that you have room to grow. Ultimately, as your basic aesthetics start selling, you can start designing specifically for brands.
Designing Pinterest Templates
Here’s another template style you could excel in. Pinterest, unlike other social media platforms, is a full-on search engine. This means you can optimize your search ranking more efficiently. If you’re wondering why I separated Instagram templates from Pinterest templates, it’s because of the users and the platforms.
Please note that, in my own personal experience, Pinterest templates sell at a higher profit because the users are typically bloggers, coaches, & startup businesses. So what does that mean exactly? It’s simply the type of content an individual is creating.
For example, bloggers create word-form content and generally aren’t that into creating likable photo-driven content. If you could find individual content creators and make their lives easier by designing Pinterest templates to fit their brand, you could make money using Canva.
Now, moving on to creating the Pinterest templates Just like Instagram templates, you can design just the same. The only difference would be creating a pricing structure for the different types of individuals & brands you’ll be creating for.
Also, don’t be afraid to present prices based on packages and your time. One of the reasons I charged more for Pinterest templates is that pinners usually post more frequently. Using Canva to design your templates will be time-consuming, and you’ll understand the demand.
Setting Up Canva Accounts
If you’ve made it this far, then this section may already sound crazy. You’re in for a treat because, believe it or not, one of the easiest ways to make money using Canva is to help others set up an account. Don’t take this lightly; it’s not just an email and password type of task.
When you’re helping someone set up their Canva account, you’ll need to go over a few basics. A great practice would be either to set up an account so that you can manage it or to help your client manage their own account. This is most likely the best option if you want to build up your confidence by utilizing the Canva platform.
You can find potential clients almost anywhere. I would start my search with my friend group, then family, then by referral, and then by reaching out to people. It may sound like a lot to take in at the moment, but understand that not everyone knows the basics and there’s always someone looking to pay for assistance.
Managing a Canva account is also very beneficial because you’ll be able to scale your prices depending on how much work is required of you. In turn, managing a Canva account could involve you creating the day-to-day task of creating marketing for a personal brand or a large company.
Nonetheless, your workload will be interesting, and you will gain more and more experience for your portfolio.
